ScamGuard – Privacy Policy

ScamGuard ("we", "us", or "our") is an AI-powered scam-detection service that helps users analyze suspicious messages, emails, SMS, screenshots, and URLs. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using ScamGuard you agree to this policy.

1. Data we collect

We collect only what's necessary to run the service.

1.1 Account data (when you sign up)

• Email address
• Encrypted password (hashed with bcrypt — we never store your password in plain text)
• Optional display name
• Preferred language (English, French, Spanish)
• Account creation timestamp

1.2 Scan content (when you submit content for analysis)

• The text, URL, or screenshot (base64 image) you submit for scanning
• The category you selected (general / parcel / romance / investment / shopping)
• The AI-generated verdict: scam probability score, risk level, explanation, red flags, next steps
• The timestamp of the scan

We store scans so you can view them in your history, and to power an anonymized Community feed that shows aggregate scam trends to help all users. Content shared in the Community feed excludes all personal identifiers: your email, user ID and scanned content preview are never displayed to other users.

• Daily scan count (used to enforce the free-tier limit of 5 scans/day)
